Should I be alarmed that these things come out of my mouth unbidden and unfiltered by any conscious faculty?

Child: SCREEECCCHHHH!
Mother: You can’t scream in the pool, someone might think you’re being hurt.
Paul: Perhaps she ought to be.
Mother (Laughs lightly, then trails off as she realizes I was talking about her child.)

After my last run-in with screaming children, a loyal reader who happens to also be one of my professors suggested I engage in some “community parenting.” (He was careful to specify “legal” community parenting.) I think this little incident shows why I ought never to do that.

There is some use for the creatures, though.
