Why must I be surrounded by idiots?

Paul to Stanford IT services:

Does ITSS have any way to trace (or block) a call received at my on-campus apartment landline? I’m getting calls from a collection agent [previously] on a disputed debt, and I can’t get them to send me anything in writing, so I can’t get their address (or their full corporate name) to sue them or send them a written demand to stop. I don’t have caller ID, but I’m hoping ITSS has some kind of way of getting the incoming numbers, and maybe associating them with an address or a corporate name?

How does this university manage to hire people who can’t read? Yet another reason to hire these guys: obviously, this is a job for offshore people with more patience who are getting paid to talk to the fizzingly stupid.
