Really good discussion starting at Public Reason

Political theorists and philosophers, get in on this one. Nicole Hassoun asks why it is, exactly, that public-reason sorts of liberals give priority to the universal acceptability of reasons over other normative constraints that might be thought to constrain or compel public actions. I don’t have time to articulate my own (incredibly involved) thoughts on this issue, but if others care, it’s rather worth looking at.
